Get the red out with Photoshop's redeye remover. Does a good job most of the time as well as being quick and easy.

More difficult jobs will not work with this tool however. If the image involves dogs, cats, or extreme orange or white reflection, you will need to take a look at both the Redeye removal: Channel Mixer and Extreme Redeye: Replace Color tutorials to get the job done.
